How to recognise a frown line
The frown line, also called the glabellar line or thinking line, is the vertical groove that forms between your eyebrows when you frown. For many people it deepens over time, and for some it stays visible even when the face is relaxed.
It can be one deep line, or two parallel lines often called the 11 lines, depending on how your frown muscles are built. Some people feel frown lines make them look stern, tired or angry, even when they are not.
At Soap we treat frown lines with Botox, also known as botulinum toxin type A: a muscle relaxant that temporarily relaxes the frown muscle.

What causes a frown line?
A frown line forms through thousands of repetitions of the same muscle movement. Concentration, bright sun, stress or simply habit can make you frown regularly, often without noticing.
As you get older, your skin produces less collagen and elastin. It becomes less resilient and the crease from frowning stays visible even when your face is at rest.
Genetics play a role too: in some people the frown muscles sit closer to the skin or are more developed, so frown lines appear earlier and deeper than in others.

WHAT TO EXPECT
How the treatment works, step by step
A Botox treatment for frown lines at Soap follows a few clear steps:
Free consult: one of our doctors assesses your frown muscle and expressions and creates a tailored treatment plan before anything is injected.
The injection: using a fine needle, we place small amounts of Botox in the frown muscle within a few minutes, with precision so your brows keep their natural movement.
The first days: you usually see the first effects after 3 to 5 days.
The full result: after about 2 weeks the effect is fully visible, and it lasts 3 to 6 months on average.
Repeat: want to keep the effect? Simply book a new appointment after a few months.

Aftercare: what to do after the treatment?
After a Botox treatment for frown lines you can get straight back to your day, with a few simple points to keep in mind:
The first few hours: don't rub the treated area and stay upright as much as possible.
The same day: no intense exercise, sauna or steam room, and avoid strong sun.
Mild reaction: a small bump or slight redness at the injection site is normal and usually disappears quickly.

What is realistic to expect?
Botox noticeably softens frown lines, but it helps to know beforehand what is and isn't realistic:
What Botox does: it relaxes the frown muscle so the line gradually softens, even when you're not frowning.
What Botox doesn't always do: make a deep, set frown line disappear completely. In that case a filler can be a logical extra step.
