How do you recognise neck wrinkles?
Neck wrinkles are the lines running horizontally across your neck, often in two or three bands. For some they mainly show when turning the head, for others from the front as well. Sometimes it's less about the lines and more about looser skin on your neck.
Many people also have vertical bands in the neck, especially when tensing the neck muscle. These don't come from the skin itself, but from the platysma: the broad neck muscle that in many people pulls slightly down on the skin around the jawline.
The picture often continues into your décolleté. That area is usually exposed to sun and ageing to the same degree, so it's regularly included in the same session.

How do neck wrinkles form?
As you get older, your skin naturally produces less collagen, making it thinner and less elastic. Meanwhile your neck moves with your head all day.
Sun plays a big part. Your neck and décolleté are often exposed to sun and ageing to the same degree, and that area usually gets less protection than your face.
Then there's the muscle. The platysma runs over your neck to your jawline. When it tenses often, the vertical bands show more clearly.

WHAT TO EXPECT
How we treat neck wrinkles
A neck treatment at Soap always starts with a free consult. One of our doctors assesses whether it's about your skin quality, the neck muscle, or both.
If it's the skin, the doctor chooses the product that suits your skin. Profhilo, Rejuran and Sculptra each have their own technique and build up. Rejuran needs 3 treatments on average with 2 to 4 weeks in between, Profhilo 2 treatments with 4 weeks in between. The result then builds up gradually.
If it's the neck muscle, the doctor places several small injections along your jawline and in the upper edge of the platysma, in about 10 to 20 minutes including consult. You notice the first lift after 3 to 5 days, the full result after about two weeks.
