SMART SCIENCE
What is a Nefertiti lift?
The Nefertiti lift is named after the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, known for her elegant neck and sharp jawline. In this treatment Botox is injected into the platysma: the broad, flat muscle running from your chest up to your lower jaw.
In many people this neck muscle pulls slightly down on the skin around the jawline. By precisely relaxing the platysma, that downward pull decreases, giving the lifting muscles in your face more room and making your jawline naturally look tighter. At the same time visible neck bands can reduce.
No volume is added, so this isn't a filler treatment. The effect comes entirely from rebalancing the muscle action.
Who is a Nefertiti lift suitable for?
Early laxity around the jawline and neck. You notice your jawline is less sharply defined than before, with mild to moderate laxity.
Visible neck bands. You see vertical bands in your neck, especially when tensing your neck muscle.
Prefer no facelift or neck lift surgery. You're looking for a non invasive way to subtly lift your jawline and neck, without surgery or scars.
Good to know: this treatment works on muscle related laxity. If excess skin or fat mainly plays a role, the Nefertiti lift isn't the right route. Want to take width out of your jawline because of a strong chewing muscle instead? Then face slimming Botox is probably a better fit. If in doubt, the doctor looks with you during the consult at which approach best suits your jawline.
How the treatment works at Soap
Consult. The doctor assesses your jawline, neck and muscle activity, and decides whether this treatment suits you.
The treatment. Several small injections along the jawline and in the upper edge of the platysma, in about 10 to 20 minutes including consult. You can resume your daily activities almost immediately.
The result. The effect comes on gradually, with a noticeable result after a few days that continues over the following weeks.

SEE THE CHANGE
Before and after: what can you expect?
Count on the first noticeable lift of your jawline after 3 to 5 days, with the full result after about two weeks. Your neck then looks smoother, and the contours of your jawline stand out more clearly.
It's a subtle change, not a dramatic transformation. Your neck and face keep moving naturally, just without the neck muscle pulling your jawline down.
Downsides and risks
Mild reactions at the injection sites. Some temporary redness or mild swelling can appear on your neck or jawline, and fades by itself.
In rare cases temporary muscle weakness. Outside the treatment area some temporary muscle weakness can occur. This is rare and temporary.
Precision matters here. The platysma calls for accurate placement and dosing, for a symmetrical result without loss of function in your neck or lower lip.
Not suitable for excess skin. This treatment doesn't correct excess skin or fat, only muscle related laxity.
Temporary effect. After about 3 to 4 months the effect decreases. If you repeat the treatment regularly, the lifting effect is better maintained.
CLEAR PRICES, NO SURPRISES
What does a Nefertiti lift cost?
The costs depend on the amount of Botox and the number of zones treated along your jawline and neck. During the free consult you work this out together with the doctor.
A Nefertiti lift is a cosmetic treatment and is therefore not covered by health insurers.
