How to recognise jowls
Jowls is the common name for cheeks that sag down along your jawline. Where your jawline used to run tight from chin to ear, a soft curve appears just above the line of your jaw.
The result: your lower face looks heavier and less defined, even though your weight may not have changed at all. It's often easiest to see in a photo from the side.

WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN
How jowls develop
It starts higher than you think. Over the years the middle of your face loses volume, around your cheekbones. What's no longer supported there slowly drops down towards your jawline.
At the same time your skin produces less collagen. It becomes looser and holds its contours less well.
Sometimes the neck muscle plays a part too. It runs from your chest up to your lower jaw and pulls the skin around your jawline slightly down.

Treating jowls with fillers
With fillers our doctors treat jowls in two places. With Jaw Framing the doctor places hyaluronic acid exactly where your jawline needs it, making it sharper and more visible.
With Cheekbone Framing the doctor works one level higher. Volume in your cheekbones gives your face structure and a subtle lifting effect, right where the sagging starts.

NO CLUE? NO PROBLEM
Jowls and Botox: when it helps
Botox doesn't add volume, but works on the muscle. With the Nefertiti lift the doctor relaxes the neck muscle that pulls on your jawline. That pull decreases, so your jawline lifts subtly.
That works well when the laxity comes from the muscle. If excess skin or fat is mainly at play, the Nefertiti lift isn't the right route and the doctor looks at fillers or biostimulation.

Your entire lower face with the No Trace Face® Lift
If it's not one spot but your whole lower face, the No Trace Face® Lift is our signature treatment. The doctors combine Restylane fillers with Botox in a tailored plan for cheekbones, jawline, cheeks and contour.
The Botox supports the lifting effect of the fillers. You choose Light or Original, and the lift starts at €1,500.
