Losing weight with injections is a form of medical weight loss in which prescription medication is used to support weight loss. The medication can affect your appetite and feeling of fullness, which can make it easier to eat less.
Weight loss injections aren't a standalone treatment or a quick fix. At SOAP they're always part of a medically guided programme:

HOW IT WORKS
How does losing weight with injections work?
The medication SOAP uses affects signals in your body involved in appetite and feeling of fullness. Ozempic contains semaglutide. This active substance mimics GLP-1, a hormone your body makes after eating. It can reduce your appetite and slow down stomach emptying, so you can stay full for longer.
Mounjaro contains the active substance tirzepatide. Both medicines are injected under the skin once a week. How your body responds and which medication may suit you differs per person. That's why the choice is always made by a doctor and followed up with medical check ups.
Which weight loss injections does SOAP use?

Within the Medical Weight Loss programme SOAP only works with Ozempic and Mounjaro. You don't choose a medicine yourself based on popularity, experiences or price. The doctor first looks at your health, medical history, medication, goals and possible risks.
Losing weight with Ozempic
Ozempic is a prescription medicine with semaglutide. It's injected under the skin once a week. In the Netherlands Ozempic is officially registered for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Because semaglutide can also lower weight, doctors can prescribe it under certain conditions within a medical weight loss programme.
Ozempic isn't insulin and it isn't a miracle cure. Within SOAP it's never offered on its own, but always as part of a medically guided programme.
Losing weight with Mounjaro
Mounjaro contains tirzepatide and is injected under the skin once a week. In the European Union it's registered for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and for weight management in certain adults with obesity or overweight and a weight related condition.
That Mounjaro is registered for weight management doesn't mean it's automatically the right choice. The doctor assesses whether medication is responsible and can also advise a different treatment plan or not to prescribe medication.

Who can medical weight loss with injections be suitable for?
The SOAP Medical Weight Loss programme is intended for people with a BMI from 27. This lower limit doesn't mean you're automatically eligible for Ozempic or Mounjaro. The official indication of the medicine, your health, medical history, other medication and possible risks determine whether medication can be responsible.
The programme isn't intended as a purely cosmetic solution to lose a few kilos. Do you have diabetes? Then your GP or internist guides you with medical weight loss. The SOAP programme isn't intended for that.
How losing weight with injections works at SOAP
YOUR SOAP PLAN
A responsible programme doesn't start with the injection pen, but with your health. That's why at SOAP you follow a personal programme with fixed measurement and evaluation moments.
1. Free intake with a doctor and lifestyle coach
Beforehand you receive a medical questionnaire by email. During the 30 minute intake the doctor and lifestyle coach discuss your health, medical history, medication, goals and expectations.
An InBody baseline measurement is also done. With it SOAP maps your body composition and records a starting point to track your progress. You get an explanation of the programme, the medication, nutrition, lifestyle and what you can expect during the programme.

2. Personal treatment plan and medication
The doctor assesses whether medication may be medically appropriate and which medicine may suit your situation. When the doctor prescribes medication, the prescription is sent to an affiliated pharmacy. The prescribed medication can then be delivered to your home. You receive instructions and contact details for any questions.
3. Weight & Coach after about three weeks
After about three weeks you discuss how the first weeks went. There's room for questions and for discussing your experiences with the medication and any side effects.
The InBody measurement is repeated to make your progress visible. Based on the medical assessment the treatment plan or dose can be adjusted if needed. Extra support is available through Coaching & Weigh In.
4. Medical evaluation after about 3.5 months
After the first treatment period there's an evaluation with the doctor. You discuss your progress and assess whether the medication and dose are still suitable. Then it's decided how the programme can responsibly continue.
After the intensive start up phase you can, depending on your situation, continue with medication or combine medication with additional lifestyle coaching. During Continue Your Program you discuss your medication, dose, progress and follow up plan with the doctor.

Experiences with weight loss injections differ
Online experiences with weight loss injections can be recognisable, but don't say how your body will respond to Ozempic or Mounjaro. Your starting point, health, lifestyle, prescribed dose and response to the medication all influence how it goes.
That's why SOAP looks beyond just the number on the scale. During the programme your BMI, BRI, muscle mass, fat percentage and visceral fat are tracked, among other things. That shows not only how much you lose, but also how your body changes. Together with the doctor you set a realistic goal that suits your situation.

You can start the Medical Weight Loss programme at SOAP in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Haarlem, Apeldoorn, Maastricht and Oisterwijk. Depending on availability, the first consult can also take place via video.
Prefer not to travel for your first conversation? During a video consult you discuss your health, goals and expectations with the doctor. When medication is prescribed after the medical assessment, the prescription can be sent to the affiliated pharmacy and the medication can be delivered to your home.
