The intake comes before everything and is free. It takes 15 to 30 minutes and is completely without obligation. The surgeon then checks whether your complaints come from excess skin or something else, and discusses what you can expect from the procedure, recovery and result.

Upper eyelid correction or lower eyelid correction?
Which of the two you need depends on your complaint. An upper eyelid correction helps with a heavy or pressing feeling from droopy upper eyelids and with vision problems. The surgeon removes the excess skin through an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid.
A lower eyelid correction reduces bags, dark circles and excess skin, for a rested and fresh look. You choose it if the skin under your eyes feels tired, swollen or loose.

What's included in your eyelid surgery?

From intake to final check up, your programme looks like this:
Free intake: 15 to 30 minutes, without obligation and free of charge. Photos are taken of your eyelids and you can schedule a date straight away.
The procedure: an upper or lower eyelid correction is done under local anaesthetic and takes about half an hour. You don't need to fast and can eat and drink normally beforehand.
Recovery room: after the operation you stay with us for half an hour with a healthy juice.
Soap bag: you get everything you need at home for a good recovery.
Check up after seven days: then we remove the stitches.

Is eyelid surgery covered by health insurance?

Short answer: almost never. Eyelid surgery hardly ever qualifies for coverage by your health insurer anymore, even if you have maximum supplementary insurance. That applies to both upper and lower eyelid correction.
Your health insurer has set a number of, often strict, conditions for this. They can be hard to find in the policy terms. You can ask your insurer to send them to you, so you know exactly where you stand.
Procedures with an aesthetic goal you pay yourself, even if you experience physical complaints. Only with a clear medical necessity is coverage sometimes possible, but that usually goes through your GP and the hospital. Because conditions differ per insurer, it's best to check this yourself beforehand.

Separately, a Surgical Brow Lift costs €899 for one side and €1,299 for two, a ptosis correction €1,499. Which combination is possible in your case you hear during the free consult; the surgeon then looks at your whole eye area.
