Who performs the treatment, and is that person qualified?

At Doctors At Soap, all filler treatments are performed by registered, BIG-qualified doctors. Our doctors are members of the KNMG and the NVCG (Dutch Society for Aesthetic Medicine) and work according to the IGJ guidelines. We find it important that you know who is in front of you: experienced, qualified, and specialized in aesthetic medicine.

When do you choose fillers, and when do you choose botox?

Botox and fillers work in different ways. Botox relaxes the facial muscles and is intended for lines caused by movement, such as frown lines or crow's feet. Fillers, on the other hand, restore volume to areas that have depleted over time or create a subtle balance in facial contours. Sometimes a combination of both is the right choice. During the consultation we honestly discuss what best suits your wish.

Which brand of filler do we use?

We use only Restylane by Galderma, a hyaluronic acid filler with a long-standing reputation and extensive scientific research. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body, making the treatment safe and well-tolerated. Moreover, Restylane is completely reversible with hyaluronidase if ever needed.

What are the possible side effects?

As with any medical treatment, side effects can occur. They are often mild, temporary symptoms such as redness, swelling, or a bruise at the injection site. These usually disappear within a few days. Rarer are lumps under the skin or asymmetry, which we can correct or, if necessary, resolve with hyaluronidase. During the consultation, we will discuss all possible risks honestly with you.

What can I expect?

The result of a filler is immediately visible, although there may still be some swelling in the first few days. The final result is seen after approximately two weeks when the filler has fully settled. Restylane fillers last on average 9 to 12 months, depending on the location and your personal breakdown rate. After that, the body slowly breaks down the filler.

Aftercare

Good aftercare helps the result come into its own optimally. A few tips for the first 24 to 48 hours:

• Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol on the first day

• Avoid makeup for the first 12 hours on the treated area

• Avoid sauna, intense sports, and tanning beds for the first 24 to 48 hours

• Do not massage or press too hard on the treated area

What is the long-term treatment plan?

We work with small steps. Prefer two subtle treatments than too much at once. This way you maintain control and continue to look like yourself. After about a year, we will evaluate the result together and discuss whether a touch-up treatment is desired. Some people choose to have touch-ups annually, while others wait longer. It's your face, and your pace.

What if I am not satisfied?

A significant advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are reversible. If you do not like the result, we can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. We first calmly discuss with you what can be improved and together choose the best next step. Honest aftercare is just part of our service.
