Who performs the treatment, and is that person qualified?

At Doctors At Soap, all filler treatments are performed by registered, BIG-qualified doctors. Our doctors are affiliated with the KNMG and the NVCG (Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine) and work according to the guidelines of the IGJ. We find it important that you know who is in front of you: experienced, qualified, and specialized in cosmetic medicine.

When do you choose fillers, and when botox?

Botox and fillers work in different ways. Botox relaxes the mimic muscles and is intended for lines that arise from movement, such as frown lines or crow's feet. Fillers, on the other hand, restore volume in places where it has disappeared over the years or bring subtle balance to facial contours. Sometimes a combination of both is the right choice. During the consultation we honestly discuss what best suits your wishes.

Which brand of filler do we use

We exclusively use Restylane by Galderma, a hyaluronic acid filler with a long track record and extensive scientific research. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, making the treatment safe and well-tolerated. Restylane is also fully reversible with hyaluronidase if ever necessary.

What are the possible side effects

As with any medical treatment, side effects can occur. Often they are mild, temporary symptoms such as redness, swelling, or a bruise at the injection site. These usually disappear within a few days. Rarer are lumps under the skin or asymmetry, which we can correct or resolve with hyaluronidase if necessary. During the consultation, we honestly discuss all possible risks with you.

What can I expect

The result of a filler is immediately visible, although some swelling may be present in the first few days. The final result will be visible after about two weeks, when the filler has fully settled. Restylane fillers last an average of 9 to 12 months, depending on the area and your individual breakdown rate. After that, the body gradually breaks down the filler.

Aftercare

Good aftercare helps the result come into its own optimally. A few tips for the first 24 to 48 hours:

• Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol on the first day

• Avoid makeup on the treated area for the first 12 hours

• Avoid sauna, intensive sports, and sunbeds for the first 24 to 48 hours

• Do not massage or press too hard on the treated zone

What is the long-term treatment plan

We work with small steps. Better to have two subtle treatments than too much at once. This way, you keep control and continue to look like yourself. After about a year, we evaluate the result together and discuss whether a refresher treatment is desired. Some people choose to have touch-ups annually, while others wait longer. It is your face and your pace.

What if I am not satisfied

A major advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are reversible. If you do not like the result, we can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. We first calmly discuss with you what could be improved and choose the best next step together. Honest aftercare is just part of what we offer.
