Who performs the treatment, and is that person qualified?

At Doctors At Soap, all filler treatments are carried out by registered, BIG-qualified doctors. Our doctors are affiliated with the KNMG and the NVCG (Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine) and work according to the IGJ guidelines. We find it important that you know who stands before you: experienced, qualified, and specialized in cosmetic medicine.

When should you choose fillers, and when botox?

Botox and fillers work in different ways. Botox relaxes the mimic muscles and is intended for lines that arise from movement, such as frown lines or crow’s feet. Fillers, on the other hand, restore volume in areas where it has been lost over the years or bring subtle balance to facial contours. Sometimes, a combination of both is the right choice. During the consultation we honestly discuss what best suits your needs.

Which brand of filler do we use?

We exclusively use Restylane from Galderma, a hyaluronic acid filler with a long history and extensively scientifically substantiated. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that we also have in our skin. If you are not satisfied with the result, we can dissolve it with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down the filler.

What are the risks and side effects?

Every medical procedure carries risks, including fillers. The most common side effects are slight swelling, bruising, or sensitivity at the injection site. These usually resolve themselves within a few days. Rare but more serious risks include vascular complications, infections, or an uneven result. Therefore, we only work with experienced doctors who are trained to recognize and treat complications.

What if I am not satisfied?

We understand that it’s a pressing question. The beauty of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are reversible. If the result is not what you expected, we can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. During our consultation, we discuss beforehand what is realistically achievable so that you are not faced with surprises. A follow-up appointment after two weeks is standard included.

How long does the result last?

How long a filler lasts varies per person and per treated zone. On average, a filler lasts six to twelve months in the lips, and in the cheekbones or jawline, twelve to eighteen months. Metabolism, age, lifestyle, and the used amount all play a role. Hyaluronic acid is slowly broken down by the body, so the result gradually disappears.

Recovery time and what to expect

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience some swelling, redness, or a single bruise. Most people can go back to work right away, but we advise not to plan important appointments or events within 48 hours after the treatment. You typically see the final result after two weeks when the filler has fully settled, and any swelling has subsided.

Aftercare and lifestyle rules

For the best result, we provide you with clear lifestyle rules. Avoid intensive sports, sauna, sunbed, and alcohol for the first 24 hours. Touch the treated area as little as possible and sleep on your back the first night. You can apply makeup again the next day.
