Before you make an appointment, there are a few things to think about. Here are the answers to the questions that really matter.

Who performs the treatment, and is that person qualified?

At Doctors At Soap, fillers are only administered by cosmetic doctors who work with them every day. No beautician, no general practitioner who does it on the side. We are affiliated with the KNMG and the NVCG, and work according to the guidelines of the Health Care and Youth Inspectorate.

When to choose fillers, and when Botox?

Botox relaxes muscles and is suitable for expression lines: forehead, frown line, crow's feet. Fillers replenish volume and are intended for lips, cheekbones, jawline, nasolabial folds, and under-eye bags. Sometimes we use them together, sometimes you choose one or the other. In the consultation we discuss what suits your face and goal.

Which brand of filler do we use

We mainly work with Restylane from Galderma. Restylane is hyaluronic acid, a substance your body also naturally produces, with one of the longest clinical track records on the market. Galderma has different lines for different applications: a thinner consistency for lips, a firmer product for cheekbones and jawline. Which we choose depends on your face, your goal, and the area we're working on.

What are the possible side effects

Immediately after the treatment you may have redness, slight swelling or a bruise at the injection site. This usually disappears within a few days. Rarer side effects include lumps under the skin, asymmetry, or a vascular complication. That is why we only work with doctors who know the anatomy and always have hyaluronidase, the antidote that dissolves hyaluronic acid, within reach.

What can I expect

The effect is immediately visible, but the final result is seen after 1 to 2 weeks when the swelling is gone and the hyaluronic acid has settled. A Restylane filler typically lasts 9 to 12 months, longer in some places. After that, your body naturally breaks down the filler.

Aftercare

  • Drink plenty of water in the first week, hyaluronic acid attracts moisture

  • Avoid make-up at the injection site for the first 24 hours

  • No sauna, exercise or alcohol in the first 48 hours

  • Do not massage or press in the treated area during the first two weeks

  • If you have any doubts about a lump or asymmetry, feel free to call us for a check-up

What is the long-term treatment plan

Fillers are not forever. A Restylane filler breaks down after 9 to 12 months, and then you can decide whether to repeat the treatment. We always advise taking small steps and only topping up when you notice the volume decreasing. This way, you maintain a natural result that grows with you, rather than a face that changes a lot all at once.

What if I am not satisfied

A major advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers: they are reversible. With an injection of hyaluronidase, we dissolve the filler, usually within 24 to 48 hours. This gives peace of mind for you and for us. A check-up appointment two weeks after the treatment is always included, where we assess the result together and adjust if necessary.
