Before you make an appointment, there are a few things to consider. Here are the answers to the questions that really matter.
Who performs the treatment, and is that person qualified?
At Doctors At Soap, fillers are only administered by cosmetic doctors who work with them daily. No beautician, no general practitioner who does it on the side. We are affiliated with the KNMG and the NVCG, and we follow the guidelines of the Health Care and Youth Inspectorate.
When to choose fillers, and when botox?
Botox relaxes muscles and is suitable for mimic wrinkles: forehead, frown lines, crow's feet. Fillers add volume and are for lips, cheekbones, jawline, nasolabial fold, and bags under the eyes. Sometimes we use them together, sometimes you choose one of the two. In the consultation, we discuss what suits your face and goals.
Which brand of filler do we use
We mainly work with Restylane by Galderma. Restylane is hyaluronic acid, a substance your body also produces. There are different lines for different applications, from fine injections around the mouth to firmer fillers for cheekbones and jawline. Which line we use is discussed during the consultation, depending on what you want to achieve.
What are the possible side effects
Redness, swelling, or a bruise at the injection site are normal and usually disappear within a few days. Rarer are lumps, asymmetry, or a vascular complication where the filler hits a blood vessel. That's why we only work with trained doctors and have hyaluronidase on site, the antidote with which we can dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers.
What can I expect
The result is immediately visible, although there may be some swelling in the first few days causing it to look fuller than the end result. After 1 to 2 weeks, everything is in place. Hyaluronic acid fillers usually last 9 to 12 months, after which the body slowly breaks down the filler.
Aftercare
Drink enough water, hyaluronic acid attracts moisture
Avoid makeup on injection sites for the first 24 hours
No sauna, exercise, or alcohol for 48 hours
Do not massage or press on the treated area, especially not for the first 2 weeks
If you are unsure about a lump or asymmetry, call us
What is the long-term treatment plan
With fillers, we prefer to work in small steps. Better a little twice than a lot once. This way it stays natural and your face can keep up with what you want. During a follow-up appointment, we see how the result has settled and if anything needs to be topped up.
What if I am not satisfied
Hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible. If you really don't like the result, we can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. It works within 24 to 48 hours. A check-up appointment after 2 weeks is standard with the treatment, where we look together whether it looks as you want and can adjust if necessary.
